About me

From a very young age I always had a fascination with photography.
I figured it must be in my blood as both my Grandfather and Father possessed a passion for it.

Often, I used to run off with my Mother’s Olympus point and shoot camera and snap at anything I could -mainly the cat, she was my favourite ‘model’ but somehow I don’t think she really appreciated being put in my dolls pram.
As I got older my creative ‘eye’ began to see things in a different light and the inheritance of my Grandfathers Olympus OM1 in my teens further induced this creative surge which catapulted me to where I am now.

I take pleasure in being diverse in all aspects of photography and I appreciate all forms and mediums.
For me, the goal is to capture the true spirit of the subject I am photographing. I don't just go out looking for pretty pictures - I search for patterns that repeat, for flowing movement, for moments that define a subject. I look for shadows and reflections, contrasts and interesting juxtapositions. I have lost count of the times where I have had passers by give me odd glances at the subject matter I am trying to capture.
In people I look for the defining angle, the personality revealed, that glimmer of life looking back at me through my viewfinder-I am not a fan of posed or arranged shots, the more natural and unassuming the better. At the moment, I am having a love affair with live stage photography - capturing the essence of the performer whilst moving, with stage lighting, is highly addictive...

I hope, like me, you can see past the initial appearance of my images and see the deeper meanings. The emotion and the stories they are trying to convey.

I hope you enjoy seeing the world through my eyes-and remember…
Magic moments to photograph are everywhere-if only you take the time to look….

Two quotes from two of my favourite photographers:

"A photograph is neither taken nor seized by force. It offers itself up. It is the photo that takes you. "

– Henri Cartier-Bresson

"Photography for me is not looking, it's feeling. If you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures."

– Don McCullin
